Kenny Frechette (they/he)

I’m a queer, Florida-born dance & performing artist currently based in Portland, Oregon. I perform in an array of dance & interdisciplinary projects for stage, film, festivals, public installations, and site-specific works.

Holding a deep love for community practice, I’m privileged to teach dance & movement regularly around Portland and, more recently, in other US cities. I also spend time conducting studio research for both solo & collaborative creation.

In this season of my practice, I’m interested in cultivating reciprocal relationships between regional dance ecosystems, advocating for working class artists, deconstructing / re-humanizing dance pedagogy, and (forever & always) emphasizing the importance of the South & Florida in the American zeitgeist. 

I have trained, taught, and engaged with dance/movement/arts communities in Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, Orlando, and at European festivals (Vertebra Danza, B12).
