BIO

Kenny Frechette (they/he)

I’m an independent dance & performing artist based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve spent over a decade training and engaging with dance/movement communities around the US & occasionally in Europe, most notably Portland, Seattle, New York City, & Orlando.

My work includes teaching, solo & collaborative choreographic creation, and performance in an array of projects for the stage, dance film, public festivals, site-specific works, and experimental theatre

Queer – Gay – Grateful

My roots, and a sizable chunk of my heart, lie in Florida / The South. My work as an artist, as well as the ways I move through the world as a human and advocate, continue to be shaped by my connection to my first home.

My artistic life has become more consistent and sustainable in the past few years. I teach regularly and maintain an active presence in the Portland dance community. I’m always looking for opportunities to create, to perform / work on projects, and to teach dance & movement.

As I continue to grow my practice in Portland I’m also now looking to spend time in other regional dance ecosystems to collaborate, teach, & train. Partly because I’m a migratory creature at heart, but also with the aim of being a connector between different dance communities. To foster greater solidarity and artistic exchange between various regions of the country. Investing in regional / local art is key to a more vital, dimensional, and interconnected arts landscape in the US (and beyond).
